Definitely the best cod and chips that we have for a long time. Able to eat in the adjacent pub with a great real ale. Will be coming at least twice to the Royal Plaice next year when we visit again. Very good value. Thoroughly recommend.
Wow! Arrived here at 2pm on Saturday.....just as it was shutting. The nice lad frying happily stayed on for 10 mins to serve us the best fish, chips ever. However...the star of the show was the curry sauce. Sublime! Give this place a try. You won't be disappointed!
Really lovely fish and chips, very tasty and really fresh. The portion sizes are very generous and it is all priced average - our oder was £32 and we had: large cod/chips, medium cod/chips, kids cod/chips, large sausage/chips, 4x bread rolls, mushy peas, sauces. The Restuarant was not doing eat in, but you can take them to the pub opposite as long as you buy a drink there. They even bring your order over to you in the pub! The pub is lovely and family friendly (be it a small traditional pub). It was really busy as it was lunch time, but it was only a 10min wait for our food. It was all piping hot and deliciously cooked.
Firstly, the food is amazing! Perfect fish and the best chips I’ve tasted on my holiday so far. I’ve given the service and atmosphere a 4/5 because I felt uncomfortable when a member of staff ( young blonde boy) was taking an elderly man’s order. He was abrupt and quite rude, which almost had me cancel my order and go to Sylvester’s! The man had a hearing device and couldn’t hear what the lad was saying… the lad continued to be rude! There was no smile or welcoming attitude from him at all. This said, the other two members of staff, especially the girl, tried to talk to him afterwards about being more welcoming and how customer service is key! I wondered if for a minute he had shares in Google as he had an answer for everything. He belittled the young girl too when she offered advice. Masogony was lurking. But 10/10 to her she kept smiling and being wonderful with the customers. 10/4/25
The best chips I've ever had. Really crispy and not greasy, piping hot with salt and vinegar all the way through. We could have sat in the shop's table area, in the pub opposite or under canvas on the outside tables ( which is what we did) . A really good selection for seating. Also there are shelters along the beach promenade where we also could have sat. The service is simple with a bleeper to let you know when the chips are ready. The young man serving was friendly and pleasant. I'd recommend this chippy to everyone
Had a lovely bit of haddock and some great chips. You can eat your food over the road at the pub, they even bring it out to you. Or you can take your drinks over to the restaurant. Highly recommended.
